Rabbi Lynn is the driving force behind Meorot, bringing his passion, enthusiasm and wisdom to the next generation of high-school graduates. Originally from New Jersey, Rabbi Lynn maintains a close relationship with his non-religious family and can relate to Meorot’s diverse student body and their parents with warmth and understanding. After graduating with honors from Binghamton University he worked as a journalist and then as a Hillel Director before making the move to Israel. He learned for 15 years in yeshivos including Darche Noam/Shapell’s, Midrash Shmuel and Yeshivas Mir, and received his Rabbinic Ordination from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg shlit”a. Rabbi Lynn has taught for many years in yeshivos and seminaries in Jerusalem and is a sought-after speaker around the globe.

Rabbi Peretz Rubel

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Rabbi Rubel has lived in Israel since 1987. A graduate of Yeshivas Chaim Berlin and New York University, he has a proven track record for managing various educational programs in Israel. A baal korei for many years, Rabbi Rubel enjoys running the netz minyan in Ramat Beit Shemesh, where he lives with his wife and family.

Mrs. Miriam Spitz, brings over 20 years of experience in the fields of Jewish education and outreach to Meorot, both in the classroom and in administrative positions. Mrs. Spitz is passionate about enabling our students to "own" their Judaism, by implementing programming and classes that teach Torah in a meaningful, inspiring and relevant manner, utilizing skill-building workshops, inspiring classes, and integrative hands-on learning experiences. Mrs. Spitz lives in Givat Ze'ev with her husband Rabbi Yehuda Spitz, Rosh Chabura of Ohr Lagolah, and their 6 children.

Mrs. Burton has been a professional in the world of donor relations and philanthropic advancement in the US and Israel for over 20 years. She is honored to work with the amazing staff and students at Meorot as she focuses her energy, creativity and vast experience in taking Meorot into its next chapter of growth and development. Mrs. Burton lives in Har Nof with her husband--therapist and author, Rabbi Tani Burton, and their 6 children. Mrs. Burton can be reached at heather@gomeorot.com.

Mrs. Gerzst grew up in Manchester, UK, and spent her gap year studying at Michlalah Yerushalayim. While studying Physical Therapy in college, her skills and passion for Jewish education and mentoring blossomed. Mrs. Gerzst worked at AISH Manchester and made her way back to Jerusalem, driven and determined to inspire, educate, and give to others. In addition to delivering public lectures and seminars she is a personal advisor to many students at several seminaries.

Sabrina grew up in Metuchen, NJ and studied journalism at Rutgers University. After college, she worked overnights on the CBS News morning show before spending time learning in Israel. She loves getting to know the Meorot students, having them over for schmoozes and meals, and spending the year watching them grow!

Friendly, approachable and super-efficient, Mrs. Ziskind keeps Meorot ticking over. With typical South-African charm and a cool head, she is often the first point of contact for our students. As a mother of five and wife of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Ziskind in Ohr Somaych, Mrs. Ziskind loves to have her house full of guests and looks forward to meeting you!

Since moving to Israel from New Jersey ten years ago, Melissa has had the privilege of connecting to and creating meaningful, empowering and inspiring learning opportunities for hundreds of young women from around the world. She has directed summer programs for JInternship, assisted in managing Jeff Seidel's Student Center servicing Hebrew University, and served as a rakezet at MMY and Machon Ma'ayan. Melissa is also a singer/songwriter who believes in the power of music to uplift and heal, and is often found playing relaxing, kumzitz style music for women and girls. She also has a private reflexology practice. She lives with her husband Simi and family in Ramat Beit Shemesh.

Mrs. Suri Stollman grew up in Teaneck, N.J. She studied in Michlalah for two years and then went on to pursue her degree. Ever since her family moved to Israel in 2015, she has been working in seminaries and spreading her love for Yiddishkeit. She currently lives with her family in Maalot Dafna.

Shana Cohen

Director of Students
Shana grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. After studying Optometry in South Africa, she came to Jerusalem where she has been living for the past 25 years. Shana has more than 20 years of experience working with students from all different backgrounds, guiding and supporting them through their journey in Israel and beyond. Shana has a deep understanding of what the students need and works toward creating a flourishing environment for students to grow in.

Rabbi Altman was born and raised in the NYC area. He attended University of Pennsylvania and then went to various Yeshivot and Kollelim in Eretz Yisrael, including Midrash Shmuel and Lakewood East. He now lives with his wife and children in Yerushalayim, and teaches in Meorot and a number of other yeshivot and seminaries.

Originally from London, Mrs. Abraham studied at Gateshead seminary where she trained as a teacher. She then moved to Jerusalem, where she lives with her husband and family, and completed a Bachelors in Natural Sciences. She has been educating and mentoring students over the last 5 years.

AKA Rav Gav is the one of the most sought after lecturers in the jewish world today. He has an uncanny ability to deliver timeless Torah wisdom in a fashion which hits his audiences with wisdom and wit, giving over pearls of wisdom in a way that they are unaware that they are even learning! Originally from New York, Rav Gav now splits his time between learning, teaching, and his family. He is currently a senior lecturer at Aish HaTorah and lives in the holy city of Yerushalayim.

Galya Kalfa moved to Israel from Toronto at the age of 12 and loves it! She is a health and fitness coach as well as a hydrotherapist, certified by the Wingate Institute. In addition to being part of the faculty at Meorot, Galya teaches and mentors at Neve Yerushalayim, Beit Shulamit and Baer Miriam.Her passion for spirituality and growth has fueled her work in helping others connect with their authenticity, grow, and live the best life that they can.

Mrs. Raquel Kirszenbaum

With her signature sense of humor and love for life, Mrs. Kirszenbaum brings energy and enthusiasm to every class. After growing up in South America she started her own Jewish journey in Neve Yerushalayim, later becoming one of their most popular teachers. As well as being a mother to two gorgeous girls, Mrs. Kirszenbaum also holds a BA from Thomas Edison State College and speaks around the world to thousands of people each year.

With his trade-mark sense of humor and extensive knowledge of Jewish thought, Rabbi Lerner is perfectly suited for teaching at Meorot. A former talmid of Yeshivahs Shapell’s/Darche Noam, Midrash Shmuel and the Mir, he received semicha from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg shlita. Rabbi Lerner continues to learn Torah, and devotes the rest of his time to education, outreach and his family.

Rabbi Dov Lev is a highly sought-after lecturer of Jewish law and fundamentals of Jewish belief. For over a dozen years, he has served as an educator and researcher for Aish HaTorah as well as numerous seminaries. Rabbi Lev has semichah from Yeshivas Ner Yisroel and an MA from the Johns’ Hopkins University School of Engineering. Rabbi Lev’s stimulating and interactive classes encourage lively student participation.

Rabbi Menachem Nissel has been a beloved teacher for over thirty years. He lectures internationally and continues to inspire thousands throughout the world. Rabbi Nissel’s ability to bring lofty concepts down to daily life makes his classes tremendously popular with young adults. He is an accomplished author and a contributing writer for Mishpacha magazine. Rabbi Nissel has an MBA from the London Business School.

Mrs. Lori Palatnik

Mrs. Lori Palatnik is the Founding Director of Momentum and a world-renowned Jewish educator, speaker, writer, and media personality who has lectured all over the world. Lori has authored four books, received numerous accolades, and was selected to light the “Diaspora” torch at the national ceremony for Israel’s 72nd Independence Day. Lori lives with her husband in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Salasnik joins us as a teacher of interpersonal relationships. Originally from London, Rabbi Salasnik was previously the Director of Shevet, the Orthodox education track on FZY/Young Judea Year Course, working with Jewish teenagers from a variety of backgrounds. As a specialist in Low Vision and Geriatric Optometry, Rabbi Salasnik flies back to the U.K. regularly, where he helps to rehabilitate people who are losing their sight as a result of severe eye disease.

Rebbetzin Chaya Tavin, originally from New Jersey, made aliyah in 1983 after receiving her BA in International Relations from John Hopkins University. For over twenty years, Rebbetzin Tavin has been teaching, advising and inspiring thousands of students in Jerusalem. As well as loving to learn new insights in the Torah, Rebbetzin Tavin also enjoys writing, hanging out with her nine children and sharing her Har Nof home with her students.

Before moving to Israel, Rabbi Wenglin graduated with a BA cum laude in History and Literature from Harvard University and with a JD from the UCLA School of Law. His ultra-high-energy delivery, deep familiarity with Western culture, creativity and self-effacing humor enable him to share and inspire with provocative, life-changing concepts in emunah, midot, and connecting to God. Rabbi Wenglin and his family live in Ramat Beit Shemesh.

Rachel was born in Los Angeles, California and attended the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. In college, her soul was nourished with Judaism. She came to Israel to learn and is happy she did. She is grateful for her rabbi, Rabbi Yaakov Lynn, as he is renowned for his wisdom, patience, and empathy. She loves being a tutor at Meorot and is excited every year to meet and learn with the students.

Mrs. Elanah Oberg

Mrs. Elanah Oberg

Mrs. Oberg lives in Har Nof, Jerusalem with her husband and two kids. She previously has worked for jInternship and the Jewish Federation, always with a focus on lighting up a person’s inner spark and helping bring a closer connection to Eretz Yisrael. She currently enjoys time with her little ones and tutoring at Meorot to share the beautiful world of Torah and Israel.
