Discover Yourself...at Meorot

Meorot offers two ways that students can receive up to 36 credits for their Gap Year.

Students can receive college credit through Touro College or Meorot provides an ECE-accredited  college transcript that you can present to your university and request credit for the coursework you completed (many universities accept this transcript).

Yes. There are generous scholarships available through Olami and NCSY  as well as private scholarships offered through local Jewish organizations. After you apply, you and your parents will be able to have a conversation with our Managing Director to discuss your specific financial needs.

A shirt with sleeves and a skirt to the knee. The dress code applies on campus, in Ramat Eshkol, on school trips and activities.

Each Meorot student participates once a week in one of three career building seminars. See our Seminars page for an in-depth description.

Check out our ‘trips’ page for more details! Meorot takes the group on full day trips about once a month and we visit much of the country. Some of our past trips include hiking, rappelling, banana boating, visiting Masada, swimming in the Kinneret, and more! When you learn Torah in Israel, the Land is your classroom – after studying a particular topic or story, we often try to visit the location where it took place – to bring your Jewish learning to life!

Yes. Each week, we have an afternoon dedicated to chesed (acts of kindness), where we will either go together as a group to volunteer in places like soup kitchens or we will set you up with an individual opportunity to volunteer in a hospital, help out a local family – or we’ll be creative and find a project that is perfect for your interests and abilities!.

The Meorot campus compound is secure with a coded gate and intercom. Madrichot live with the students on campus, and Meorot’s Em Bayit lives close by,  so should any emergency arise, they know what to do.

Meorot is in contact with “Cheder Matzav,” (situation room)  a security company used by every yeshiva/seminary across Israel. We are updated in real-time about any security risks. We take a medic and an armed security guard with us on every hike.

Meorot students come from diverse backgrounds. Some of our students attended public school their entire lives, and then became involved with NCSY, Chabad, Tribe, Batya, Oorah and other Jewish youth organizations and decided to spend a gap-year learning after high school. Other students attended Jewish day school their entire lives, and are looking to delve further into their Torah learning and get answers to those deeper questions they have. Additionally, some of our students attended a mix of private and public school.

Meorot offers both beginner and advanced curriculum tracks for classes like Chumash (Bible) & Halacha (Jewish Law), as well as both beginner and advanced ulpan classes for Hebrew. We also offer one-on-one tutoring and small group learning so that each student can study in the type of environment that best suits her.

Once a potential student applies online, we will be in touch to schedule a video interview with our co-director, Mrs. Lynn. We will then let the applicant know if she has been accepted and what the next steps are.

Our students come from all over the United States, Canada, and the UK. Are you from somewhere else? We’d love to hear from you!

Meorot is housed in a lovely villa in the scenic Jerusalem neighborhood of Givat HaMivtar–right next to Ramat Eshkol. Meorot is 20 minutes from the Old City by public transportation. The campus has everything you could need – a dining hall that serves 3 meals a day, a laundry room, and a beautiful and spacious garden with breathtaking Jerusalem views.

At Meorot, we ensure that each of our students has amazing plans for Shabbos each and every week. Twice a month, Meorot either has Shabbos on campus or takes the girls out to an off-campus Shabbaton. If we’re on campus, Meorot staff and their families join the students for meals, and host special programming. If it’s an off-campus Shabbaton, usually one staff member’s family will join, and the entire seminary will have the opportunity to visit different cities and sites throughout Israel. The Tzfat Shabbaton is a crowd favorite! On ‘off-Shabbosim,’ students will be able to visit family and friends in Israel or be set up with local families who are excited to host you for Shabbos (health regulations permitting).

The Meorot staff is the most caring and dedicated team! Please see our Faculty and Staff page for descriptive bios.
