Rabbi Lynn is the driving force behind Meorot, bringing his passion, enthusiasm and wisdom to the next generation of high-school graduates. Originally from New Jersey, Rabbi Lynn maintains a close relationship with his non-religious family and can relate to Meorot’s diverse student body and their parents with warmth and understanding. After graduating with honors from Binghamton University he worked as a journalist and then as a Hillel Director before making the move to Israel. He learned for 15 years in yeshivos including Darche Noam/Shapell’s, Midrash Shmuel and Yeshivas Mir, and received his Rabbinic Ordination from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg shlit”a. Rabbi Lynn has taught for many years in yeshivos and seminaries in Jerusalem and is a sought-after speaker around the globe. He recently celebrated the birth of his sixth child with his wife Penina and travels daily to Meorot from their home in Beitar.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Rabbi Rubel has lived in Israel since 1987. A graduate of Yeshivas Chaim Berlin and New York University, he has a proven track record for managing various educational programs in Israel. A baal korei for many years, Rabbi Rubel enjoys running the netz minyan in Ramat Beit Shemesh, where he lives with his wife and family.
A talented social worker, Mrs Lynn has a keen insight into how to help individual students and create positive group dynamics. Originally from Columbia, Maryland, she has a BS in Sociology from Simmons University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland. As a previous behavioural specialist working in public schools, Penina is often consulted by institutions in Israel for advice on how to best help their students and runs workshops on goal setting and executive functioning. A busy mom of six, Penina also runs her own private practice alongside taking care of the students of Meorot and ensuring their wellbeing throughout the year.
Originally from England, Libby has spent the last seven years being passionately involved in outreach and education. With a BSc in Psychology and a warm, approachable personality Libby is perfectly suited to shmoozing with students and creating meaningful connections. Mrs. Lauren Miller has been involved in the development of Jewish education for over fifteen years. Originally from the UK, she was heavily involved in the Union of Jewish Students before discovering the magic of learning in Israel. After attaining her Master’s Teaching Degree and teaching in various Jewish schools in London, she married her husband Shimon and moved to Jerusalem nine years ago. An experienced copy writer and marketer, Lauren manages the promotion of Meorot to potential students and loves to give the Meorot girls the same enriching experience that she enjoyed as a student.

Prior to becoming Torah observant, Tovia, a graduate of Temple University and the founding President of the Alpha Pi chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, was an award-winning director and producer who specialized in generation-x and millennial advertising. His company, Mad Media, has guided some of the worlds biggest brands: Nike, Adidas, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, MTV, and The National Football League to name a few. He has worked alongside many household names such as Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Mathews, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.
For the past 15 years has been living in Jerusalem with his wife Rachel and their five children; during those years he has focused his energy on the Study of Talmudic Law and youth education. He is an engaging speaker whose Shabbos table is a point of destination for American Yeshiva boys and Seminary Girls as well as students exploring their Jewish roots for the first time. Together with his wife, Rachel, a former Broadway dancer and actress, he opened The Jerusalem Center for the Performing Arts, which currently provides programming for over two-hundred women and girls in Jerusalem.

As a Har Nof native of almost twenty years, Zehava Apfelbaum is perfectly suited to help our students find their feet in their new neighbourhood. An avid exerciser, Zehava brings plenty of energy and enthusiasm to her role as Eim Bayit, and loves to laugh, have fun and have deep and meaningful conversations with our girls. In her spare time Zehava volunteers at the local seniors club, teaching classes on Judaism and dance. She absolutely loves being an Eim Bayit and looks forward to giving every student a true home away from home.
Rivka came to Israel from Southern California in 1999. As a trained EMT, she responded to more than ten terrorist attacks during the intifada and now shares her knowledge and experiences with our Medical Seminar students. In addition to this, Rivka is also our logistics coordinator and applicant advisor. Potential students are able to access scholarships and grants through Rivka’s extensive knowledge of the communal funding available and help off-set the costs of their year in seminary. She lives with her husband and six children in Beitar-all redheads and board game fanatics!
Friendly, approachable and super-efficient, Mrs. Ziskind keeps Meorot ticking over. With typical South-African charm and a cool head, she is often the first point of contact for our students. As a mother of five and wife of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Ziskind in Ohr Somaych, Mrs. Ziskind loves to have her house full of guests and looks forward to meeting you!
Rabbi Menachem Nissel has been a beloved teacher for over thirty years. A rebbe in Yeshivas Yishrei Lev and a Senior Educator to NCSY, he lectures internationally and continues to inspire thousands throughout the world. His ability to bring lofty concepts down to daily life make his classes tremendously popular with young adults. Rabbi Menachem Nissel is an accomplished author, with his book on woman and prayer, Rigshei Lev, being a must-have for every seminary student. He is also a contributing writer for Mishpacha magazine. He has an MBA from the London Business School.

Mrs Kimche and her husband Rabbi Shmuel have been the address for Jewish teens for the past ten years. Originally from London, they taught in Hasmonean high-school, ran Ezra UK together and were popular speakers at the JLE. Now living in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Esti continues to bring her wisdom and warmth to our students at Meorot.
Ayelet Gordon grew up in Manchester, UK, and spent her gap year studying at Michlalah Yerushalayim. While studying Physical Therapy in college, her skills and passion for Jewish education and mentoring blossomed. She was trained and hired as a female educator by AISH Manchester and then eventually made her way back to Jerusalem, driven and determined to inspire, educate, and give to others.
Now in Israel, in addition to delivering public lectures and seminars Ayelet is a personal advisor to many students at several seminaries. In addition, she has initiated advanced learning programs for post-seminary girls both in the UK and in Israel.
Rabbi Dov Lev is a highly sought-after lecturer of Jewish law, Jewish philosophy and fundamentals of Jewish belief. For over a dozen years, he has served as an educator, counselor, and researcher for Aish HaTorah as well as numerous women’s seminaries throughout Israel. He has semichah from Yeshivas Ner Yisroel and holds a Master’s degree from the Johns’ Hopkins University School of Engineering. Rabbi Lev’s stimulating and highly-interactive classes encourage lively student participation. He lives with his family in Ramat Beit Shemesh.
After six remarkable years living in Asia immersed in Eastern philosophy and tradition, Dov Ber Cohen rediscovered his Jewish roots and the profound wisdom and insight to be found in the teachings of the great Jewish Sages throughout the generations. Since then he has continued to travel the world, running programs to help people tap into their personal potential and create their own life journey in an empowered, conscious and joyous way.
A rising star in the Jewish world, Mrs. Elnecave’s parsha class reaches thousands every week online. Her enthusiasm for Torah is contagious, and our students love it that she speaks their language. A graduate in Jewish Studies from Vanderblit University, Mrs. Elnecave taught English in Mexico before moving to Israel in 2010. She now lives down the block from Meorot with her husband and family.

Mrs. Low has been educating, inspiring and connecting with students for the past fifteen years. Originally from Belgium, she is dedicated to empowering people to be more connected to themselves and the world around them. She lives in Jerusalem with her husband and five children and is excited to be joining the Meorot faculty.
With her signature sense of humor and love for life, Mrs. Kirszenbaum brings energy and enthusiasm to every class. After growing up in South America she started her own Jewish journey in Neve Yerushalayim, later becoming one of their most popular teachers. As well as being a mother to two gorgeous girls, Mrs. Kirszenbaum also holds a BA from Thomas Edison State College and speaks around the world to thousands of people each year.

Rebbetzin Chaya Tavin, originally from New Jersey, made aliyah in 1983 after receiving her BA in International Relations from John Hopkins University. For over twenty years, Rebbetzin Tavin has been teaching, advising and inspiring thousands of students in Jerusalem and joins Meorot in 2019 as our teacher of key Jewish texts. As well as loving to learn new insights in the Torah, Rebbetzin Tavin also enjoys writing, hanging out with her nine children and sharing her Har Nof home with her students.
With his trade-mark sense of humor, outgoing personality and extensive knowledge of Jewish thought, Rabbi Lerner is perfectly suited for teaching at Meorot. He first came to Israel in 1992 after completing his BA in International Relations from Concordia University to pursue his dream of learning everything he could about Judaism. A former talmid of Yeshivahs Shapell’s/Darche Noam, Midrash Shmuel and the Mir, he received semicha from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg shlita. Rabbi Lerner continues to learn Torah, and devotes the rest of his time to education, outreach and his family. He lives in Beitar Illit with his wife and children and looks forward to welcoming the Meorot students to his home.
Mrs. Spitz joins Meorot as our dynamic advanced-level Chumash teacher. Originally from the States, she took the unusual step of attending Gateshead Teacher’s Seminary, and has been passionately teaching Torah to young women ever since. Her class at Meorot focuses on exploring the deeper layers of meaning in the Chumash, and is a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous journey through our sacred texts. As well as teaching to women of all levels of religious observance, Mrs. Spitz is also a busy mom and wife to Rabbi Yehuda Spitz, a Rosh Kollel and posek in Yeshivas Ohr Somaych.
A London native, Abi discovered her passion for painting during her high-school years in Hasmonean. A talented artist, she specializes in capturing the people and scenes of Israel in a variety of mediums. As well as dedicating her time to artwork, Abi is an active member of the Emek Learning Center community in the Baka neighbourhood of Jerusalem, where her husband, Rabbi Shimmy, is a community Rabbi.
Braha Bender, CLC, CNT studied personal and business coaching at Bar Ilan University, narrative therapy at The Jerusalem Narrative Therapy Institute, and has been keeping a diary – poetry, short stories, journaling, painting, collage, you name it – since she was seven years old. (Yup. Seven.) After about a decade running her own business as a freelance writer, translator, and webmaster, Braha joined Mishpacha Magazine where she has served as Communications Editor since 2014. She has taught 1:1 and groups at several Jewish studies programs including Shearim College of Jewish Studies, Hebrew University’s Hillel Beit Midrash, and Bircas HaTorah Women’s Programming, starred in a couple of musicals, and is a little bit of a foodie.
Rabbi and Kate Salasnik join us as our teachers of interpersonal relationships. Originally from London, Rabbi Salasnik was previously the Director of Shevet, the Orthodox education track on FZY/Young Judea Year Course, working with Jewish teenagers from a variety of backgrounds. As a specialist in Low Vision and Geriatric Optometry, Rabbi Salasnik flies back to the U.K. regularly to work, where he helps to rehabilitate people who are losing their sight as a result of severe eye disease. That’s when Kate steps in, teaching Rabbi Salasnik’s class with the same infectious enthusiasm that is adored by our students. As a respected parenting expert and a mother of seven lively children, Mrs. Salasnik is perfectly suited to making lasting connections with our students, and together the Salasniks create a warm, nurturing environment both inside and outside of the Meorot classroom.
As well as being a world-renowned Jewish educator, speaker, writer, and media personality, Lori has served as the Founding Director of Momentum/JWRP since 2009. She is the author of four books, Friday Night and Beyond, Gossip, Remember My Soul, and Turn Your Husband Into Your Soul Mate. In 2014, Lori was named one of the ten “Women to Watch” by Jewish Women International in recognition of her contribution to Jewish women throughout the world. Hadassah also named Lori one of the “Most Outstanding Jewish American Women of Our Time.” When she’s not travelling the world, Lori likes to catch up with her five children and spend time with her husband, Rabbi Yaakov Palanik, in their home in Jerusalem.
Sara grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and graduated Montreal’s McGill University with honors. With her husband and family, she has made Jerusalem her home and has been working in outreach education and administration for over two decades. Both career counseling and Jewish outreach are passions of hers, and she is thrilled to be leading Meorot’s Professional Development seminars designed help students define their ultimate career path.
